| In higher doses it is an euphoric stimulant and at lower doses it induces a gentle trance. - Mesembrine and mesembrenine are the two major active alkoids in Kanna. In small doses they have a meditative and narcotic effect. In higher doses, they first have a stimulating cocaine-like effect. After about an hour, it changes to a trance-like sedation. The fresh leaves also contain oxalic acid. This has been reduced to a minimum by a special traditional procedure, making this powder suitable to be used as a snuff. In higher doses it is an euphoric stimulant and at lower doses it induces a gentle trance. The body experiences increased sensitivity to touch, and numbness to pain. Other effects that have been reported are feeling free from angst and stress, higher sense of consciousness and increased focus and concentration. In combination with alcohol and/or cannabis visions have been reported. In some cases Kanna can also be used to abort a magic mushroom trip. |
